Jealous of all your friends, co-workers and family who can’t stop bragging about the marvelous summer vacation they had while you were stuck at home this summer in order to save for next year’s vacation?
Well, instead of waiting another year to get away, join the vacation conversation and take advantage of the ridiculous end of summer travel deals going on—and brag about how much you saved, too.
With the school year back in swing, many airlines, passenger train companies, resorts and cruise lines expect a drop in travel rates,
therefore they drop their prices. After this weekend, prices of travel and lodging drop dramatically.
Getting there:
A roundtrip Delta flight for two from Newark, NJ to Orlando, Fla., leaving August 19 and returning August 22 will cost you around $758 per person.
The same roundtrip flight leaving August 26 and returning August 29 is around $272 per person, offering a savings of $486.
Additionally, an Amtrak roundtrip train ride from Richmond, VA to Miami, Fla., leaving August 19 and returning August 22 will cost you around $281.
The same roundtrip train ride leaving August 26 and returning August 29 drops to around $166, offering a savings of $115.
Staying there:
A stay at Loews Hotels Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando from August 19-22 for two people will start around $324 per night, depending on rooms and packages.
Wait another week and the same hotel stay will start around $249 per night, again depending on rooms and packages.
The Delano South Beach Hotel in Miami offers a stay for two from August 19-22 starting around $520 per night, depending on rooms and packages.
Stay from August 26-29 at the same hotel, and the price drops to around $340 per night, depending on rooms and packages. But, stay one more night and check out August 30, and the price drops even lower—starting at $295 per night.
A great getaway at a reasonable price is Myrtle Beach, SC. There are tons of attractions, a great beach and hotels of all price ranges.
The Coral Beach Resort, accredited with the best family accommodations in Myrtle Beach by the Travel Channel, has amenities like a water park, lazy river, on-site recreation center and direct easy access to the beach. A stay here from August 26-29 is around
$288 per night.
Another reasonably priced resort in Myrtle Beach is Hotel Blue. Stay at Hotel Blue in Central Myrtle Beach the weekend of August 26-29 will cost around $240 for the entire weekend. That translates into $69 per night for Friday and Saturday, and
$49 on Sunday.
Of course, most chain and luxury resorts will cost a lot more than your run of the mill hotel. But we can’t forget our friends at sites
like hotels.com, orbitz.com, kayak.com, priceline.com and others like them. Booking your hotel through places like these can mean
instant savings, and most all offer a price match guarantee. Most of these sites also offer flight, car and hotel packages, which can yield even bigger savings.
Sailing Away
Cruising is another great end of summer travel choice. September officially means it is off-season for cruise lines sailing to the
Caribbean, which means mega savings.
A cruise between May and August can be very expensive, in the price range of the upper hundreds into the low thousands. Even a seven night Caribbean cruise leaving August 20 on Oasis of the Seas, one of Royal Caribbean’s more luxurious ships, will cost approximately $1,200 per person. However, in September, the same cruise drops to around $895 per person, a savings of around
$300.
Carnival cruises are relatively priced and still offer all the amenities of luxurious cruise ships. In August, you can book a four day western Caribbean Carnival cruise from around $329 per person. But in September, the same cruise will cost around $219
per person.
Don’t forget, the price of a cruise includes all your meals, your stay and a lot of onboard activities. If you’re a first time cruiser, or
would like some help finding the best cruise at the best price, don’t hesitate to contact the experts at Cruises.com,
there 24/7 to help you find the best cruise deals.
*Note: booking cruises last minute can also guarantee huge savings because cruise lines want to fill vacant cabins.
So if you couldn’t afford a summer vacation and are dying to get out of town, take advantage of wonderful end of summer savings and enjoy yourself, and your savings!
