Top 5 Credit Killers

The most important thing you can to improve your credit or maintain a high rating is to pay your bills on time. Conversely, making your payments late can kill your credit. One late payment can drop your score as much as 100 points in one shot. Spring Issue: Tiana Von Johnson Gets Personal

Streetlights flashing, crowded streets, and the scent of gasoline is in the air. It’s a world of its own where anything can happen. Curiosity carried us over 256 miles for an opportunity to speak with an emerging woman. Jumping out of the car on Crosby Street, the driver whisks off; as we, briskly walk passing nearby pricey boutiques, Chinese delis in search for our meeting spot; surprisingly, it would almost go unnoticed except for the peculiar greenhouse setting that catches your eye. Mykl, the creative director of photography steers our direction with a sharp left. “It’s so important to really push, really focus, and really let all that positive energy just fulfill you… most times you’re not going to get support of other people.”

is a state that sometimes gets away from us when our financial life crosses into the unknown, i.e. change. So how do you get or maintain that financial clarity you need to organize your financial life?

Right now consumers are under siege. From high unemployment to rising food and utility costs, consumers are just barely able to keep their heads above water.

Well, here is another issue to add to the list. Pre-paid debit cards are the fastest growing form of electronic payment in the nation. Federal Reserve data shows that prepaid card transactions have grown more than 20 percent between 2006 and 2009.

These cards may seem like a great idea to individuals with little or no credit history or those who have difficulty obtaining traditional credit cards. But be wary, these cards come with fees that basically charge you to use your own money.
